After some extensive trips around the globe, here we are back again in Europe with another homage to my good friend and spiritual companion, The Lolly Pope. I’m 99% sure he would select (again, note the present tense!) the same forgotten combos featured here, not complaining about some Irish mates and Scotsmen in between the Brits. Same goes for the alphabetical order I guess as the Limey sound sticks it all together perfectly. Prepare for some rare gems I’ve fished from the net, together with some missing information on the fugitive artists (and nice pictures, too). Again, this set comes with a 14 pg booklet, all YouTubers and bloggers who generously share their treasures mentioned (thank you, partners). I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy another drive on the left side of the road!

J. Frank WIlson & The Cavaliers

(Link)
Great comp as are all of your collections. One small correction however. J. Frank Wilson were not from the US but rather from the US. I believe, to be more specific, they were from Texas but I'm not absolutely sure about that. Sadly, Wilson dies of alcoholism in 1991.

.. oops, you're right, of course, Franky must have managed to sneaked in here somehow (I added that track when everthing was fixed, thinkin' it was a leftover, that's why no liner notes) .... I guess we let the poor old chap sing with the brits, this time... thanks for your info (and appreciation)!!!

thanks for the link, I think there are only 3 tracks on it that I've not heard yet - 'when the sun goes down' being one of them

sorry for the confusion, that's what going 'anonymous' can do - I should have specified that there are 3 tracks from the Nicolquinn album still to hear. And thanks for your ever courteous replies, others could learn a lot from that.

Awesome, it's like Christmas in May, man. I stumbled on Lolly Pope's blog only shortly before his parting but can tell the world lost a great preserver of great 60's music. You are filling his shoes well I think.

So is your record collection as impressive as your digital collection? I'm picturing catacombs filled with dusty forgotten records rather than mummies though, or maybe something more like a wine cellar:) I don't have to space for actual physical copies of songs. Even had to get rid of all my cd's a while back. They're becoming obsolete anyways and lack the album artwork of lps.

GROOVY !!! Michael :

1000 THANKS from the Far East to you and your fast response to my GIRLIE-
REQUEST...yes, it's the girls for me who make the 60s so wonderous and
tittilating [sic] ! Being a little boy in the 60s it took me 40 years to
discover and excavate the music, comics and TV-series of the 60s. Alone
in the 'music scene' of the 60s there were such diverse styles, singers
and groups that it took me the latter of 40 years JUST TO COMPREHEND how much had been
going on during this greatest (and last) cultural era of the 20th
century...
Please stay alive, all your blogger-colleagues have gone down the drain...

CHEERS!

Hi Axel, I'm happy you dig the 60s girls (what wonder!) and I agree on the golden era. For more girls I highly suggest the "Real Girls in Garageland"-series created by the wonderful garagetapes-blog (http://garagetapes.blogspot.it) in case haven't spotted it yet.
Stay on the cool side pal!

Tommyknocker

(Link)
Just found your wonderful website. It was great to see the great Tommyknockers series has continued. I've got the original 23 volumes taken from the Roots & Traces blog so I was really pleased when I discovered a further 5 volumes. I was sorry to hear of Lolly Pope's passing last year but it's good that you have continued in honour of the great man's memory. Long may you continue and thanks again for the fine music. ZIPPER ;-)

.. thanks for your kind lines, Zipper. It's an honour for me to carry on with my friend's passionate and witty work and it makes me very happy to know someone out there appreciates it the same as I do, so this heritage keeps the LollyPope's spirit alive!
